Our Trustees

The Board of Trustees of Encephalitis International are responsible for the Governance of the organisation.

Charity governance refers to the systems and processes that ensure a charity is well-directed, effective, supervised, and accountable.  It involves the responsibilities of trustees in setting the strategic direction, policy development and implementation, legal compliance, accountability, culture, and overall governance ensuring the organisation is well-managed and achieving its charitable objectives. Essentially, it’s about how a charity is run and governed to fulfill its purpose effectively and legally.   The Trustees are not involved in the operations of the organisation – this sits with the Chief Executive and staff team.

There are a lot of people engaged in the running of an organisation like Encephalitis International.  This can be our scientific advisors, beneficiary volunteers, and other external stakeholders.  The diagram adjacent provides an example of the range of stakeholders involved in the governance and operations of Encephalitis International.
