Kelly Olver

Fundraising Manager

WHAT DO YOU DO AT THE CHARITY?

My role is Fundraising Manager. I work with a wide range of fundraisers and donors providing stewardship and managing both short and long-term income. I create and manage events both in the UK and internationally to encourage fundraising to support our work on a global scale. I deliver events such as our Changemakers initiative and new supporter engagement events. Working on the ever-changing income streams such as digital fundraising initiatives, along with producing our marketing reports and utilising the data to create new campaigns. In a nutshell, it is my job to build relationships with fundraisers and tell them about the amazing work we do!

WHY DO YOU LIKE WORKING HERE?

I love being part of a wonderful team of passionate individuals who provide amazing support to those with, or who have had encephalitis. There is always the opportunity to learn, to grow, and to connect with and meet those we have helped, which is a clear indicator of how valued the charity and the team are.

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOURSELF

I studied for both of my degrees in my hometown of Northumbria. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family! I love to cook. Baking cakes is my thing! I adore animals and spent many years volunteering in my local cat and dog shelter. I ended up bringing lots of them home over the years! Currently, I have a Labrador called Lucy, a pug called Peggy and two cats, Muffin & Coco. I also enjoy wild water swimming, but not in winter!

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THE ENCEPHALITIS SOCIETY MAKE IN YOUR OPINION?

Encephalitis is very real! Encephalitis International works tirelessly to raise awareness and education of this dreadful Illness. We are currently the one place in the world to provide valuable medical education, support, and advice to those affected directly and indirectly. It is incredible to hear heart-warming stories from our inspirational supporters.
