Autoimmune Encephalitis Lived Experience — Diane’s Story

Diane shared her experience of autoimmune encephalitis at the ‘My Brain: My Story: My Family’ event in October 2024

Diane, 21, from London, is a final year Psychology with Cognitive Neuroscience undergraduate student, aspiring clinical neuropsychologist, speaker, social entrepreneur, encephalitis overcomer and volunteer. Diane had autoimmune encephalitis in 2018, at the age of 15, during which she endured months of a semi-coma state; she couldn’t talk, walk, eat or see due to complete vision loss from high intracranial pressure.

“Although it was a journey, I am grateful and humbled to have had such a great recovery from autoimmune encephalitis which serves as a reason for my passion for positively impacting those affected by encephalitis and supporting Encephalitis International in their efforts to raise awareness as a support volunteer.” Diane
