2016 - The Retreat
We were joined by 50 Members to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Buckland Hall in the Brecon Beacons for a long weekend 20th to 23rd May.
The Retreat was focused around Storytelling and featured 3 workshops, firstly all about writing your own Narrative with Dr Ava Easton, then storytelling through Indian Dance Movements – resulting in a great Bollywood routine by Gaya at Equilibrium Creative. On the Sunday we welcomed Hilary from Attune Music Therapy to help us learn how to express ourselves through music.
A big part of the weekend was welcoming Jon our Support Coordinator to Buckland Hall following his 270 mile Cycle4Harry Challenge from our offices in Malton to raise money in memory of a long time Retreater Harry Swindlehurst who sadly passed away last year.
We believe the weekend makes a real impact to our Members and creates a lasting impact but don’t just take our word for it – here is what our Members had to say:
“I no longer feel so isolated it was a good reminder that I am not alone”
Another said:
“Best of all is the company, friendship and ambience of friends at Buckland Hall”
A final member added:
“I have continued to feel part of a big family of special people who understand each others difficulties and have appreciation of support needed and share empathy and friendship”
We would like to express our thanks to the Friendly Hand who significantly contributed to the funding of this event.
