Tailored Online Problem Solving (TOPS-UK): A Pilot Implementation Study for Adolescents with Acquired Brain Injury

A research team at the University of Exeter are looking for young people affected by a brain injury (including encephalitis) to try out a free, web-based programme to help support problem-solving, and managing emotions/feelings of overwhelm.

The University of Exeter are inviting young people (aged 13–19) who’ve had an acquired brain injury, including encephalitis, & their parents/carers to take part in a new online & free problem-solving programme.
 

What is TOPS-UK?

TOPS-UK offers practical & evidence-based support to help young people adjust & move forward after a brain injury.  TOPS-UK is a web-based programme designed to support emotion regulation, problem-solving, & managing overwhelm. It’s fun, flexible, & delivered by a coach in up to 10 sessions over a maximum of 16 weeks.

TOPS-UK is free for young people & families to access, thanks to our generous donors – the University of Exeter, Enable Law & the McCabe-Walls Family Foundation.

What is involved in taking part?

  • Participants are invited to complete questionnaires before, after, and 3-months after using the TOPS-UK programme.
  • Some participants  may be invited to share their experiences in a follow-up interview.

Participant criteria

  • You must be based in the UK and aged between 13-19 years of age to take part.
  • There are further criteria for being involved, get in touch with the research team to find out more.
