The Talbot Hotel have been incredibly generous to The Society, gifting stays in the hotel, meals and events space. We are incredibly grateful to have their continued support.

Originally built in the early 17th century as a hunting lodge and trading as an Inn since 1740, the Talbot Hotel has both led and reflected the fashions and enthusiasms of Malton people.

The abiding local passion for horse-racing is ever-present. It's said that the hotel was purchased and enlarged by Thomas Watson-Wentworth Earl of Malton in 1739 in order to provide accommodation 'for the Nimrods who congregated at Malton for hunting, racing and coursing'. To this day, those trades associated with horse-racing make a significant contribution to the life and economy of Malton.
