The Encephalitis Society Support Service provides support to all people affected by Encephalitis, their families, friends, carers and professionals supporting them. The Support Service operates from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside these working hours, there is an answer phone operating. We try to respond to all enquiries promptly. Regrettably, on rare occasions email servers or phone technology fail. Should you suspect that there have been difficulties with your request, we would ask that you consider contacting us again.
The Support Service does not give medical advice. The information provided via Support Service is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between patients and their doctors/therapists. If you contact us via the Support Service, we may record your email address, your name and your postal address, if relevant, to enable us to provide information or services requested.
We may also collect information about your condition (Encephalitis), the after-effects, your age and a history of your contacts with us. If you would prefer not to have your information stored, please let us know. This will not prevent you from using our services.
The Support Service is confidential. This information will never be passed on to any third party, unless required by law or agreed with you. If required for research purposes, we may share statistical information regarding illness and its consequences with research establishments, but we are only using anonymised data, which does not identify you. You can ask to see what information we keep about you or choose to have your records deleted at any time by contacting us.
