Being in hospital can be a very traumatic experience for all involved. Acquired brain injury can be a consequence of encephalitis and it is difficult to appreciate the extent of this in the early stages.
Planning for discharge should start from the moment the patient is admitted to hospital. At discharge, patients should be given full information about encephalitis and its after-effects.
If you are unhappy with the hospital service or any other NHS service you can make a complaint to the hospital or that service.
