Virgin Money London Marathon 2015

The 2015 Virgin London Marathon on 26 April was a great day for The Encephalitis Society . Our Dream Team of runners - Alan, Aliki, Nick and Tom - did themselves, and everyone associated with Encephalitis, proud.

From starting klaxon to finish line they were all stars, every step raising funds and awareness, as they disregarded the fatigue, discomfort, and , for at least one of them, the pain of injury.

Tom Willson, running in memory of his young son George, said the marathon was "one of the hardest but best things I have ever done". Tom ran a super race, finishing in 3hts 36mins 5secs.

Alan Percival “It’s always great to do something for you guys". Alan lost his wife to Encephalitis and has raised money for us before. Thanks Alan, great time in getting well under four hours.

Nick Evans "That was hard but so worth it, raising money in memory of my good friend Johnny". Nick had to battle from start to finish with a knee injury but was determined to make it. Running in a pink tutu was only a minor challenge!

Aliki “I am now a marathoner, and my last 600m when I saw the clock I ran like a sprinter to not pass the five hour mark! Running for the Encephalitis Society was what kept me going!” Aliki's sprint was successful, and she finished the 26.2 miles in 4hrs 59mins 41secs.

Lots of pictures have appeared in the media and here are links to many of them;

Thanks too to the supporters who came out on a damp and chilly day to cheer on the runners - it was great to meet you. Also to all of you who have been able to support the Dream Team with sponsorship.

If you've been motivated by this year's race then entries for the 2016 Virgin London Marathon open on Monday 4 May and close on Friday 8 May. Don't miss out...https://www.virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/…/h…/ballot-entry/
