Celebrate everything that’s incredible about Portsmouth in 2023 and RUN YOUR CITY.

Join thousands of your friends and neighbours at the Great South Run this year, the world’s most famous 10-mile run for over 30 years. Starting and finishing on the glorious seafront, the event provides stunning running at every turn with breathtaking views of the Isle of Wight. The route offers a run through history passing iconic landmarks including the Historic Dockyard, HMS Victory and Southsea Castle.

With entertainment zones that celebrate local character, incredible crowd support, and rocking music at every mile, it’s a party atmosphere from start to finish. It’s a run for everyone, from locals to celebrated athletes, whether it’s your first event or your 50th. An inclusive celebration of running, with music blazing, crowds buzzing, legs pumping and fists bumping. Portsmouth comes alive on Great South Run weekend.

Back by popular demand the North Downs 50 has returned for 2023. Setting out from our Guilford basecamp, and a looped 50km route that takes in some of the best of the Surrey hills, the North Downs Way, and the surrounding countryside. The North Downs 50 is not one to miss.
London Halloween Walk

28 October 2023, London Halloween Walk - Get your bravest team together of guys & ghouls, or go it alone if you dare and meet up with other chilling challengers to take on the scary streets and historic haunts of London. With a full, half, or 10k distance available there is a spooky challenge available for everyone. With a start & finish at the Oval Dungeon, come dress to distress to take part in a hair-raising hike around London.
South West Coast 50 Challenge

05 August 2023, South West 50 Challenge - The stunning ‘South West’ challenge beginnings in the shadow of the impressive Dunster Castle basecamp, while the start of the route commences at Minehead leading into the famous 630 mile Coastal Path. Pick and choose from either a 50k or 25 km option also, plus a family-friendly 10K event along with camping options & festival-style hospitality at basecamp across the weekend.
Lake District Challenge

10/11 June 2023, Lake District Challenge - Join us on the Lake District Challenge and take on England's finest countryside at your pace. Our wonderful route takes you over some tough hills, Garburn Pass, into Ambleside, through our halfway point by the idyllic Lake Windermere, into some forests, and nature reserves all with some stunning views, all based around our Kendal basecamp.

Setting out from the Putney Bridge start and head East towards the City, zig-zagging over 16 historic bridges–each with its own fascinating story–with a rest stop near Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, before reaching the spectacular Tower Bridge and completing your challenge at Southwark Park.

NMDAR antibody encephalitis

NMDAR antibody encephalitis is an autoimmune disease that causes psychiatric features, confusion, memory loss and seizures followed by a movement disorder, loss of consciousness and changes in blood pressure, heart rate and temperature.
Herpes Simplex virus encephalitis

Herpes simplex encephalitis is a type of infectious encephalitis which happens when herpes simplex virus (HSV) enters the brain. Usually, it begins with ‘flu-like’ symptoms followed by neurological deterioration, which may include personality and behavioural changes, seizures, weakness and difficulties in communication.
What is encephalitis?

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain caused by an infection or through the immune system attacking the brain in error.
Guidelines for recovery

No two people with encephalitis have the same outcomes. People recover at different paces. Recovery can be helped by having lots of rest, good nutrition, helpful social network and support from professionals.
Limbic encephalitis

The term ‘limbic encephalitis’ (LE) describes the condition when limbic areas of the brain are inflamed (swollen) and consequently not functioning properly. Most forms of LE fall into two main categories: infectious encephalitis and autoimmune encephalitis.
Death from encephalitis

Encephalitis is a serious neurological condition and unfortunately, despite improvements in specific and more supportive treatments such as excellent intensive care management, encephalitis still has a high mortality (death) rate.
West Nile encephalitis

West Nile encephalitis is a type of infectious encephalitis caused by West Nile virus. People usually become infected after being bitten by a mosquito, which has fed on an infected bird.

This booklet provides key information about the type of issues that people may have after encephalitis, why rehabilitation/support from professionals and families are important and what options for self-help are available.
Emotional and behavioural changes

Following encephalitis, some people may experience emotional and behavioural changes including low mood, increased anxiety, depression, mood swings, frustration, aggression, impulsivity, disinhibition, and/or poor emotional regulation.
