Date, Start, & Route Changes

On 22 February the Government announced a ‘road-map’ for the staged easing of the Covid lock-down. As a result of these new timelines, our planned Jurassic Coast Challenge on the 15/16 May has had to be moved in order to comply with the restrictions on large scale outdoor events, guidance & advice from local councils and their safety advisory groups – as well as ensuring that all challengers will be able to book all types of accommodation across the weekend of the event (eg B&B’s / Hotels). Therefore we’re pleased to confirm the weekend of the 22/23 May as the new day for the 2021 Challenge – with a changed main start venue now in Corfe Castle – rather than Poole – which was an unavoidable change.

We’ve had to change the main start location of the event, from Poole to Corfe Castle, as the original start meant that 5km into the route there’s the Sandbanks ferry, and with strict ‘social distancing’ in force until the end of June, the foot passenger capacity is restricted to just 40 people per crossing – and at most 3 crossings / hour. This clearly would make the event impossible – given that we have over 2,000 participants to ferry across within 3-4 hours.

We are aware some people may have booked accommodation in Poole, however we now have parking at the new start venue in Corfe Castle – or we recommend a train (it’s just a 12 minute journey from Poole to Wareham), and we will be putting on free shuttles from Wareham station to our start venue in Corfe Castle. Please note – the timetable isn’t live yet but trains run every 30 minutes, and a full service should have resume by the weekend of the event.

SIGN UP & FUNDRAISING OPTIONS:

  1. Charity Sponsorship – you pay a small registration fee, do lots of fundraising and we cover the cost of your event place!
  2. Mixed Funding – pay half of the event place cost yourself, fundraise a bit less and we pay the balance of the event place cost.
  3. Self Fund – you pay the full cost of the event place - fundraise whatever you want, with no set target or deadline, and there’s no cost at all to the charity!
