| Recovery Alternative Therapies Reiki |

After receiving the recent newsletter and reading stories on alternative therapies, I would like to say, that as you probably remember, I have called on numerous occasions crying out for help on how to relieve the pains in my head, and also way help my insomnia. Aromatherapy and cranial massage were suggested, however, aromatherapy did not help me personally and I did not manage to arrange a cranial massage. When I first became ill, following my trip to New York last August, my partners' mother told me that her friend practised 'Reiki', which is an alternative therapy. It is a form a massage that is all to do with positive energies, and is performed whilst the recipient is fully clothed. This was suggested to me last year, but at the time, did not try it as I was unsure as to what had happened to me. Now, a year later, I am receiving regular 'Reiki' sessions. However, after the first session I was slightly dubious, as it did not seem to have any effect on me - my head still hurt! After two more sessions, my head is free of pain most of the time and I feel a whole lot better. I have recently returned from holiday and had many sessions prior to this. I feel that the 'Reiki' has had such a positive effect, that I am now wanting to learn the therapy myself. This will help me a great deal, as it can be performed on oneself. The insomnia continued to cause a problem. However, whilst on holiday, I bought a CD called 'Sleep Inducernent.' I have played the CD every night since returning from my trip, and so far, have enjoyed a good night sleep. Nowadays, I am feeling a lot better and more like myself And I now realise that when I do feel sick and my head hurts and my eyes look drunk, it is time to have a rest. I have also changed my gym so that I can take yoga classes. And I go to bed quite early most nights, because I am always so tired. Saying this, both the 'Reiki' and the 'Sleep Inducement' CD, have helped me enormously and I am sure that these methods would also help others like myself. Sally Anne Cliffe |
