Paris MarathonEvent date: 6 April 2008
A big thank you to all of you who supported me during my training period and for your sponsorship. You will be delighted to know that I completed my first marathon in Paris on 6th April 2008, in a time of 3 hrs 56 mins 49 secs, and was placed 13552 out of a total field of 28844! Many thanks for your all support; it is greatly appreciated. London MarathonEvent date: 13 April 2008
This charity is close to my heart, as our eldest Grandaughter Madison has suffered with this terrible virus twice in her tiny life already. We are lucky that Madi was not affected badly, but others have been. The charity relies soley on public donations, so I wanted to do my bit!
I'm running the London and Edinburgh Marathons to raise awareness and money for the fantastic work the Encephalitis Society does and for the support they have given my family. I have been lucky enough to get places in both races through the ballot, so all the money I raise will go into the work of the society rather than covering expenses of buying a place. Please, please, please help me....if I can get this body round a marathon course, surely you can spare a couple of quid! Sheffield MarathonEvent date: 27 April 2008
Hi everyone. A couple of housemates and I have just made a late decision - to run the 2008 Sheffield Half Marathon. Training is underway and we are confident we can run through the pain! We are running in aid of the Encephalitis Society. Many of you will know that my Dad was effected by encephalitis in 1994 and it left him mentally and physically disabled. Any amount you can give to the cause would be massively appreciated, little or large. Just WalkEvent date: 10 May 2008 Raise money with your feet! Choose either 20km or 60km
The Encephalitis society is a great cause as it supports people who weren't as lucky as me and and therefore need constant support and help due to brain damage.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. BUPA Great Manchester Challenge 18 May 2008Event date: 18 May 2008
In December 2005, I learnt the devastating effects that encephalitis can have on many of the things that we take for granted. Encephalitis is a group of brain diseases about which little is known. It is an inflammation of the brain that comes on suddenly and produces serious neurological disease and often related brain injury. It can have a variety of causes of which a virus infection is the most frequent and important. For me, whilst some things are now more difficult than they were before, I am one of the lucky ones and am now back doing all the things I enjoyed before. Many sufferers are not so lucky and there is a pressing need to increase the general awareness of this disease, and to improve significantly the rehabilitation of survivors and support both for patients and their carers facing what can be a lifelong disability. Edinburgh MarathonEvent date: 21 May 2008
In 2006, my wife Celia passed away following a 7yr battle with the after effects of encephalitis. I have raised money for the Society who have helped the 2 of us through all the stages of her illness. For my final event to riase money I have entered the Edinburgh Marathon 2008 - this is also my first marathon. To help other families, parents children, please dig deep and sponsor me online. British 10kEvent date: 6 July 2008
Please help sponsor the Encephalitis Society who do amazing work to support people and their families affected by encephalitis. They also have an active role in research and raising the much-needed awareness about this disease. You can help make a difference!
