An in memoriam donation made to the Encephalitis Society is a meaningful way to pay tribute to the memory of friends, family members, a loved one or colleagues who have passed away.

Rather than sending flowers, people often choose to make a donation to a charity as a permanent way to pay tribute to and celebrate a life well lived. Family and friends appreciate knowing a lasting legacy has been created in honour of the deceased.

In memoriam donations are put towards the Encephalitis Society’s ongoing work to improve the quality of life for people with encephalitis and to encourage research into the condition and its consequences.

Gifts to the Encephalitis Society in memory of a loved one may be arranged through your funeral director. If, on the other hand, you send donations directly to us, please provide the full name of your loved one and the date of death with each gift so we can let you know the full amount. We will also send a thank you note and a hand written card to the donor.

Under the new Gift Aid rules to reclaim tax at the basic rate from donations by UK tax-payers we would be grateful if UK donors would accompany their gift with a statement giving their name and home address and indicating their willingness for tax to be reclaimed, preferably by using the Donation Form for UK Taxpayers. Higher-rate tax-payers may claim higher-rate relief on Gift Aid donations by completing the appropriate section of their Self-Assessment return.
