One of our key objectives as an organisation is “raising awareness about the
condition and its subsequent problems - amongst relevant professionals, statutory
agencies and the wider public”.
How is this done?
Relevant professionals.
Staff members of the Society regularly attend Clinical meetings and conferences
to present information, make contact with professionals working in the medical fields
relevant to encephalitis and man display stands with our literature.
People who are affected by encephalitis themselves can also raise awareness by taking
information to their doctor or therapist. Information materials and posters can
either be downloaded from this website or requested from the Resource Centre.
Statutory agencies.
The Society from time to time sends information to Hospital and Community departments.
People affected by encephalitis themselves can help by taking posters and leaflets
to their local hospital or Health Centre and checking that the posters are displayed
and leaflets have not run out.
The Wider Public.
Media coverage in newspaper, magazines, radio and television programmes is the best
tool for reaching the wider public. Personal stories are so powerful in explaining
what it means to be affected by encephalitis. Follow the link on the left hand menu
to the Media page.
Last but not least
Wear the jigsaw badge and tell people what it stands for.
