Carers Week: 9-15 June 2008
In 2008 the fourteenth annual Carers Week will highlight the impact caring can have on your health and wellbeing. The theme is Carers can't afford to be ill and an online questionnaire for carers has just been launched. The organisers want to hear about your experience of being a carer; the rewards and the frustrations, and the effects on your health. What are the implications for you, as well as for the person you care for? Please visit www.carersweeksurvey.org.uk to take part; it will only take a few minutes of your time.
The results of this survey will be at the centre of Carers Week publicity and activity, and will be sent to Government and all national politicians, to healthcare professionals and others who have powers and responsibilities that can help to improve the health and quality of life of carers.
To find out more about Carers Week, including free leaflets, posters and promo materials, visit www.carersweek.org

SUPPORT FOR RELATIVES OF PEOPLE WITH BRAIN INJURY
Kemsley, Northampton, Meetings 7-9pm, 3rd Thursday of the month
Help and information can be difficult to obtain when a family member sustains a brain injury. For example, following a road traffic accident, assault, or illness. At Kemsley, National Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation, specialised rehabilitation for people with a brain injury has been provided for the past 25 years. Alongside this, staff have worked with family members and partners to share knowledge and offer opportunities for support. We are now able to offer support to family members from Northampton and the surrounding area in the form of a monthly meeting held at Kemsley. Between 7 and 9pm it offers an opportunity to meet other people in a similar position to yourself, that is, following a brain injury to a family member. In addition, expertise from professionals in rehabilitation, for example, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Social Work and Occupational Therapy can be made available to offer information and insights about life after brain injury and ideas to improve coping.
