What does this role entail?
A Regional Representative Accredited Volunteer provides local support and information
to people affected by encephalitis, families and friends; raises awareness about
encephalitis and its consequences in their local communities; liaises with other
local organisations with similar interest and works together to improve local services.
Who can be a Regional Representative Accredited Volunteer?
Any member of the Encephalitis Society can apply to become a Regional Representative
Accredited Volunteer, however they must be willing to undergo a selection process
and a training programme. Currently this programme only operates in the UK and Ireland.

How can I apply?
Members of the Society are sent an invitation letter when their area is targeted
for recruitment. Details about future recruitment will be featured in the Newsletter
and News section on the website.
What training and support does a Regional Representative Volunteer receive?
The Encephalitis Society has developed a nine credits training programme accredited
by the Open College Network. The training is delivered by the Society during a period
of 6 months at the beginning of the volunteering activity. The Volunteers receive
continuous support from the Regional Representative Volunteer Coordinator and are
given the opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge by attending training
sessions when need it.
